So many things aren’t taught in church that could drastically change someone’s perspective on Jesus. One thing is the fact he was one of many messiah figures during a time that Jews kept on trying to rebel against the Roman Empire. Another is the fact that the first writings about him were by Paul who didn’t even know him. Another is how he’s painted to be peaceful when he was anything but.
It was enlightening to read how certain things were changed or added to the Bible. For example, Pontius Pilate actually hated Jews and didn’t meet with those sentenced to death. But because Christianity thrived amongst the Romans, they twisted it into how Pilate met with him and wiped his hands clean to make it seem like the Jews fault. Ever since that was wrongly added to the Bible, the Jewish cult (as said many times in the book) has suffered genocide and persecution for being the people “responsible” for Jesus’ death, despite Jesus being a Jew and fighting for their liberation from the Romans. I may never believe in the Jewish faith, but I do not think anyone should be killed for their beliefs.
This book was short and I know doesn’t have all the details, which I would love to learn more about this man who has drastically changed the world.

Very well researched and put together. Tells a good story. I think I would have gotten more out of it if I was more well schooled in The Bible.
A stunning and intelligent consideration of the historical Jesus, respectfully and passionately considered with clear-eyed pragmatism. A remarkable book for lively discussion.
Really easy book to get through. I think it did a nice summary, but could have had him elaborate more on the research behind his findings.
Very enlightening, but a bit magniloquent causing the author to seem quite supercilious.
Irony implied.

Blew my mind!! Just some confusing prose at times.
Extremely interesting, meticulously researched history of Jesus set in the context of his time.
I very much enjoyed this book! While I didn't necessarily 100% agree with everything in it, it served its purpose in making me think. And if what he says about the historical Jesus of Nazareth is true, it in no way diminished the message of Jesus the Christ.
