Everything you love from Guards! Guards! is back and has evolved along with Pratchett’s writing. Truly firing on all cylinders.

Colloquially known as Guards Guards Guards!, a very solid sequel to Guards Guards! The mystery felt a bit unsolvable, a lot of extremely convoluted stuff going on, but didn't take away from the enjoyment.

I have similar issues with this novel as I do with Shogun: Part One. The first third of the novel isn’t the most engaging. However, I think I’m starting to notice a general trend with the Discworld novels where once I make it to the 1/3 mark, the book becomes extremely engaging and enjoyable, which this novel was. I had a blast reading the remaining 2/3 of the book, and finished reading the book over the course of 1-2 sittings where reading felt effortless in a way it doesn’t even with many novels I like. Combine that with the strong characters, engaging dialogue and narrative, and reasonably short length, and I really enjoyed this novel. An easy 4/5 stars for me, and looking forward to my next City Watch novel.
