This book was fantastic! I'm mainly referring to the annotations by David M. Shapard. I've read another one by him, Emma, and I was kind of worried that the information in it would be redundant, but it wasn't. This is my all-time favorite book and he just managed to make me enjoy it even more. I can't wait to read the other Austen books that he's annotated.

It was a wonderful book, just a bit boring. Reading assigned books is always worse than reading on your own. I’m not big on reading classics, but I might read other Austen books after this.

I rarely read romance books that don't have another main plot to focus on, but this one is a classic of English literature for a reason.

For someone who has avoided classics since finding a few of them boring as a child, this was surprisingly fun to read! The twists and turns of the various relationships were great, and it was interesting too to read a book that was written so long ago and to see how both words and society have evolved over time, while still being so similar in so many ways.

After being on my tbr for years, I have finally read this book. And I loved it! I thought it was great! I guess I’ve brought my rating down a little because I was waiting for it to be the exceptional piece of literature people claim it to be, but I found myself wanting more out of it. Regardless, I will definitely be reading more Austen in the future.
