Fantastic. My perception is undoubtedly coloured by the conservative historical reality this book was written in, however despite that I found it subversive and enjoyable to read. Elizabeth is abundantly fun to listen to judge other people.
Additionally, while it does technically suit Mrs Bennet's character, the narrator's voice for her was unbearably agitated and shrill, which made it hard to listen to at points.

I admire how interconnected every characters' decisions are. The characters are dynamic, the pacing was perfect, the subplots were resolved wonderfully, and the "clear and obvious" goal was reached satisfactorily — in other words, it made sense. Impeccable worldbuilding too: Austen took her time, so when I got to the midpoint, it was satisfying. And the climax? Beyond satisfying. The story structure was also very clear.
Austen plays around with words like how Elizabeth does: witty, clever, snappy. And although the Penguin Classics edition preserved the early 19th century language which Austen had used, it's still a fairly easy read for a modern reader—and English is my second language.

What can be said about P&P that hasn’t already been said before? It’s iconic, witty, and the characters feel so real that I can’t believe that Austen pulled them out of thin air.

Another re-read for me and while this rating and review might be colored by nostalgia, I still find myself enjoying it thoroughly and it remains a comfort for me to pick up again and again.
It is probably one of the best examples of how people can change over time and go through a redemption arc after their character failings are pointed out to them since they do it with no expectations of the other (even if there is plenty of hopeful yearning). This goes for Darcy and Eliza both.

i used an audio book while reading or i would have just never properly understood what was happening, did make things more enjoyable tho. the book was slow at times but oh my when it wasn’t i got really into it and was heavily invested in these characters. there were plot point i just did not care about at all. the whole thing about lydia and wickham omg i did not care. even thought it did add to the development of elizabeth and darcy. i just really wanted to move past them. when it wasn’t focusing darcy and elizabeth i just really wanted it to go back to them. omg chapter 43 😩😩
