I first read this book when I was 15/16 and adored it. Rereading it now I realize that it was never that amazing to begin with. While I still love some of the quotes and the main characters themselves, Rowell didn’t do enough research over Parks character and the romance was (while cute) very rushed into.

I thought the overall story was pretty good, but it was definitely missing some things. There were also little things that the author included that did not to be added in, and most of them had a very racist or fatphobic undertone. 

alright i just read this again for school. wtf was that. im mortified. literally eleanor has to be the most dramatic human ever im sorry. its so frustrating hearing her talk. poor park.

The racism is so weird. I genuinely don't get it. You could've not mentioned that the asian woman had an accent still because her husband liked it. Minor spoiler but at some point, Eleanor has someone writing very s-xual harass-y in her textbooks. It gets worse when it's revealed who it is.
