A pretty lightheaded but very informative book by Tom Rasmussen. The theme of this book is a deep look into Marriages in the 21st century.
The book tries to deep dive into the reasons people get married (is it Love, upholding traditions, a day of showing off to family/friends?). The book is pretty humourous at times abd you can have a clear sense of the internal struggle the writer is facing in his personal life going from someone who imagined about his wedding day to someone who can't imagine getting married nowadays (though not totally against the idea!)
Throughout the book we read interviews who married for pretty valid or logical reasons, people who work in the wedding industry and even an interview with the writer/creator of Sex and the City (who suprises Rasmussen with her views).
I do feel that towards the end, the book get a bit repetitive and the focus changes from the institution of marriage to his own relationship dilemma which in my opinion could a bit TMI

Mostly good stuff. I would like a deeper look at the way we define marriage. I would also like more time spent on divorce. I loved having a queer perspective of marriage - Tom looks at things in a way it was important for me to consider - but I would love to read the same book from the perspective of a cishet woman too, because I think it would probably relate to my experience more.

This book is unsuferrable. Author's tone is just sooo tiring. And he's very long-winded. Could've been an essay.

Loved the book, it was so funny and I loved the casual tone that felt like chatting to a friend. It explored marriage from so many angles I hadn't thought about before and gave a lot of food for thought.
