The initial story in this volume has to do with war, PTSD and childhood trauma. It hits hard without being overtly violent with gore. The other stories in it are top tier amusing and develop the plot quite a bit. However, it’s that first chapter of this volume that left a huge impression on me. Don’t miss this volume if you’re a fan of the series.

We get a little bit of Loid's past in this one, which is just as traumatic as you probably think it would be. Because of that, the first part of this volume is a bit more somber in tone than the rest of the series. But never fear! That changes in the second half of of the book when we get back to Anya and Yor and all of their shenanigans.

Can't wait to see how the battle of friendship plays out!

4.75 out of 5 ☆’s.

“I hated the enemy without knowing why. I picked up a gun without knowing why. I obeyed my country without knowing why.”

I want to start off by saying that this volume is heavier than it’s predecessors (CW: war, death, and child abuse).

When I began this volume — I didn’t expect to delve into Loid’s past
he’s always been such a secretive character (the man is a spy) so it was interesting (and equally heartbreaking) to see how this elusive character came to be...

The addition of Melinda Desmond also came as a surprise to me! I’m interested in seeing how Yor’s friendship with her progresses
