The author did a commendable job building suspense throughout the narrative. The storyline had some intriguing moments that kept me engaged, particularly in the first half of the book. Heydenburg's writing style is accessible, making it a suitable choice for readers at a college freshman level.

However, as the plot unfolded, I found some elements to be predictable, and the resolution felt rushed. Additionally, the characters lacked depth, making it challenging to connect with their experiences on a deeper emotional level. While the book had potential, I couldn't shake the feeling that it fell short of delivering a truly memorable experience.

This is a quick little read that you can easily devour in a sitting or two - especially if you love a YA thriller. Elements of mystery combined with short chapters added to the fast pace and growing suspense throughout the book. For me though, I felt that the ending was rushed. It built up throughout the book and then it just fell a bit flat? I would have liked a bit more backstory around the characters in order to really get to know them. I guess then it wouldn’t have been such a short read but I feel like it really would have added more substance to the book and that was missing a bit for me.

This was a great quick read to wrap up spooky season. I flew through the pages as I read about Elena’s story trying to see how she would get Justice. I thought Elena s was slightly annoying at times, but I loved the flashbacks the author gave from Mara’s point of view to wrap the whole story up.
