This book was very interesting. I read this because I was going to Italy and wanted to learn more. I ended up finishing most of it after my Italy trip but I really enjoyed hearing about places from Leonardo's time that I was able to visit all these centuries later. The author did a great job of describing why Leonardo was so unique and such a genius. I did listen to the audiobook while driving, which I felt detracted from the book overall. There are over 100 pictures included in the ebook/regular book which I didn't get to view, so something was definitely lost in translation here.

Extremely thorough, sometimes too much so.

The introduction and coda were powerful pieces of prose about what we can learn from Leonardo. The audiobook was narrated deftly by Alfred Molina who was able to fluidly pronounce the Italian parts.

Isaacson discovers a true Renaissance man and shares with his readers his many brilliant accomplishments, sketches, lists, ramblings and ideas. Unbelievable! A man ahead of his time in so many ways. If you listen to this book make sure to download the pdf file. Isaacson refers to paintings, drawings, sketches and writings from his many notebooks.
