3.5 A pretty solid, easy-to-read biography. The author chose to forego detailing every battle Washington fought during the Revolutionary War, which I appreciated, and the details of the Constitutional Convention which we can read about elsewhere. This was a balanced look at his life that included as much of the personal as it did the professional.

Interesting to read this at the same time I was watching Hamilton on Disney+ - to see how Hamilton's and Washington's stories interacted, what was embellished and what was purely factual. The first biography of Washington written by a woman - interesting perspective. There were definitely stories that I had never heard before. He is definitely a more nuanced character than history paints him.
