3 out of 5 ☆’s.

”It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.”

While I enjoyed the fact that we were able to jump into the Hogwarts happenings right off of the bat in this book - I didn’t enjoy CoS as much as I enjoyed its predecessor.

I cannot pinpoint what it was that stopped me from enjoying this book more…I think this plot just didn’t intrigue me as much? ://

Notes:
- Again, 5/5. It's very unlikely a book in this series will be anything but 5 for my own nostalgia.
- The mystery element of this book was well done and pieced together so understandably and satisfyingly. Also a good point in the series to add a bit more depth to the characters (Weasley family, Harry's Slytherin traits).
- Big yikes to the way everyone at Hogwarts bullies Harry when they think he's Slytherin's heir too.
- I will say this one is a little bit more forgettable than I thought. Then again even as a kid CoS wasn't in my top favs.

Still a great mystery and a hood read. Dobby will always be a favorite.
The Author introduces some interesting concepts. Some will haunt her later.....

Still it's tedious that the bad guys are "fat and ugly", which is a tiresome stereotype.....
And the question remains: if the sorting hat, sorts you for who you are - which is then fixes forever (slytherin bad, gryffindor good etc) how can Dumbledore say its our actions that shape us? Is ot predetermined (houses) which would render his remark meaningless or is it our free will (actions) which would make the sorting a joke.

Also the ending feels a bit rushed when you compare it to the movie Version (Dumbledores Office)

I don't have much to say besides, I'm glad I don't have to think too much about Gilderoy anymore.
