What a beautiful love story! I enjoyed this book so much. The book takes place in the time of WWI so there is a fair amount of tragedy and mistreatment, but there is also love, hope and inspiration. It really brought into focus what matters in life and how we should treat our fellow human beings. The book was clean, and the audiobook was fantastic. The ending made me love the book even more.

If I could give this 500 stars, I would. I say this often, but this truly was one of the best books I've ever read. I might even be so bold as to say the best, if I didn't fear insulting other novels.
I loved a the storylines, especially the ways the Greek gods are represented. The subtle sarcasm around Ares was fantastic.

This book had me crying three, maybe four, times in 400 pages. Such a beautiful work of historical fiction with such wonderful love stories. I feel like Berry did such a great job of representing the youthful innocence of war, while also giving special attention to minorities in war with so much grace.
4/5 stars instead of 5/5 simply because the gods and goddesses felt like an afterthought at times, even though the story was centered on them… I often got confused with which god/goddess was telling the story. However, this didn’t distract from my ability to read the story or enjoy the characters.

2.5 (this is generous) // Am I insane, because everyone seems to have adored this book and I am just confused as to whether we all read the same thing.
