This book was so beautifully written. It’s not often that I find a book that pulls at my hearts strings enough to make me cry but this book did it. Not ugly cry level, but the tears were falling. It had everything you could want in a hurt/comfort book and the characters were just so real. I was pissed on their behalf, hurt on their behalf, anxious, and just all the feels. Like if they were live people, I would want to just smother them in affection.

Definitely give this a read if you want to feel all the feels.

This was my first Marley Valentine listen. This story was amazingly beautiful. It took us on a journey with a grieving family and partner. Little did Deacon & Julian know where their mutual love for Rhett (Deacon's Brother) would lead them. Teddy Hamilton & Tim Paige did an exquisite job bringing them to life for the audiobook. This book is on my permanent re-listen list!

God damn it, man. This was such a beautifully written story.
I had a few problems with the pacing of the book, it felt a bit rushed and gave me some instalove vibes, but overall I enjoyed it shamelessly.
It is also a bit corny and syrupy at times, but whateeeeever, I'm here for it.

This is a book that I want to keep reading and reading and reading.
I usually do not re-read books but this is one that I did.
It's a story that tears up your heart and puts it back together.
It's a story that sometimes makes you feel hopeless but the MCs are strong and they can definitely make it happen.
It's a hurt/comfort story that takes our breath away.
It's just a great story that you need to read!

One of the most emotional reads that I have come across this year. I am new to Ms. Valentine but I am now a fan. Grieving the loss of his brother and the dysfunction of his family, Deacon finds solace in spending time with the only other person who misses Rhett as much as he does - Rhett's boyfriend Julian. But with each step, the two become closer. Can Deacon and Julian find comfort, love and acceptance with each other? Truly heart wrenching as well as heart warming at the same time this was a fabulous read. Beautifully written characters and a storyline that traps you in like a warm hug this book is one I will read again and again.
