I don't think I've ever given a thriller 5 stars before, but here we are. This was funny, gripping and addicting. I feel the ending may have been a tad rushed, but not enough to knock it down a star. Grandma is the best!! <3

Very quick read, easy to follow. This book did have me hooked for the first 200-250 pages. However, when there was about 60 pages left, I felt it dragging on. The conclusion was unsatisfying and felt very rushed yet somehow drug out. It was like the author decided who did it 250 pages in and had to quickly tie it to that character. I thought there was an unnecessary amount of sexually explicit scenes. Some are okay but it became tacky quickly, especially one of the later ones (you know which one if you’ve read it).

Overall, it was okay. Two stars for the first 200-250 pages but the last 100ish just didn’t work.

I started this book at 4:30pm on Tuesday and finished by 10am on Wednesday. 18 hour turn around.. and 8 of them I was asleep for. I feel like that’s pretty telling. I hate the fake word “unputdownable” but that was absolutely the case.

If you like the podcasts “up and vanished” or “serial” it’s a very well written and engaging fictionalized/novel version of those.

The main character was written in a way that made her seem so real. Enough wit and snark to make you laugh out loud, but not so over the top that it felt forced. She was a truly neutral narrator as well, owned up to her faults and culpability while trying to piece together who murdered her friend.

This is a book that I would recommend someone who is just starting to get into reading. A book that is easy to read and digest without sacrificing the  writing, character development or plot.
