"Bliss to me was feeling alive, and noone made me feel more alive than him."
In five days, I read the first three books of Elin Peer's Men of the North series on KU., and it has been just the palette cleanser that I had been looking for!
It was fun to take a break from overly-sciency books and escape into a futuristic world where gender roles coincided with political borders.
All three books followed a different couple with the same enemies-to-lovers trope. And even though the writing mechanics weren't polished and I would have welcomed more smut, I found myself unable to put the books down!
I'm ready to now take a break from the Men of the North, but I look forward to continuing with book 4 soon.

Started off as an entertaining, steamy romance in this dystopian setting with gender separated societies. I would've been happy with this not-too-serious romcom building on breaking those comically over the top gender stereotypes.
Towards the end of the book however, the focus shifted more for a go at an actual, serious plot and became both confusing and very dark. The author chose the theme of reproductive rights in a world of unwanted sterility as something to build the continued story around. The impregnation-fantasies were also a turn off (pun intended). I'm gonna give the second book a try, but I have a feeling it's not going to work.
