Wow. This book is amazing. I loved every second of it! I found it so captivating and inspiring, emotional but still funny and down to earth?
One of my favourite books i’ve read this year, I can’t wait to read more by this author!

I absolutely loved this book. This book really opens up the readers eyes. The amazing twists and turns in this book were just so indescribably amazing. Felix Ever After has some of the most amazing romance you could ever ask for in a book. This book tackles questioning and transitioning in a way for the reader to really grasp and understand. I’ve read several of books like this, but none of them have been as good as this one. You don’t get to see much representation like this, and I think the author did amazing while describing this. 5/5 stars, I think everyone should read this if they want to.

So I wanted to read a book from a transgender person's viewpoint, read about their journey and saw this book getting hype recently.
Sad to say, It didn't meet up my expectations fully. This one has got amazing reviews from almost everyone. So unpopular opinions ahead. And another long review, yet again.
Our main character Felix is a trans, queer, black teenager who's never been in love, he desperately wants to know what it feels to be in love, to be loved. When someone at school starts sending him transphobic messages after publicly posting images of him before he transitioned–Felix comes up with a revenge plan that includes catfishing the person he suspects. Though he didn't plan for his catfishing scheme to end up in a love triangle.
Things I liked:
• Diverse characters (Trans, Queer, Biracial, Black, White)
• Felix is in this art program. He makes self-portraits and portraits of his friends. I also loved the artwork of the cover.
• Focus on search for identity and self-love.
• Some strong friendships. Ezra was an admirable friend to Felix, he would always stand up for him and was ready to go to any lengths for him. I truly rooted for them.
Leah was a loyal friend to Felix. Was happy to see their friendship grow and mature over the course of the book.
• Secret-letters he writes to his mother, and never sends. I loved how Felix is so raw in expressing his emotions through these letters.
• How the topics of identity, discrimination, race, gender were discussed within the queer community.
• The ending with emphasis on themes of love, friendship and acceptance.
There might be minor spoilers.
Issues I had:
•Was NOT a fan of the love triangle. Felix is seventeen years old, so I reckon he is confused and still figuring things out, and that's alright! My problem is, he changes his decisions within like 3 to 4 pages. Now he is in love with X, then he is in love with Y. Now he wants this person to kiss him, then again he would love if this other person kisses him also. Too frequent fluctuations, major turn-off.
• The way things advanced with the person he *suspects* to have sent him those messages. After it being the central point of the plot, I don't think this person deserved to be treated like that by the end.
• The way Felix behaves with his father initially. His father is not perfect, and makes mistakes. I get it! BUT here he tries to understand him, tries to accept the changes! Felix just ignores this fact and only focuses on the negativity.
• There's this friend of Felix; his parents are regal, wealthy people who don't really care about their son. Felix shuts him off at some point by saying "you shouldn't complain as you are privileged. What problems could you possibly have?" I don't know! What bothering me is–does it give us the right to make a person feel guilty about being privileged because we are not? We might feel jealous, sad too. But can we judge? Especially when that person is your friend and has been nothing but kind to you?
Overall, this has been a new experience for me. Perhaps I am nitpicking. There are things I can't shut my eyes to, if it's a contemporary substantially. Hence the rating.
