I really liked the first half of the book! 4/5 Stars!
Spoiler Finding yourself, figuriung out your sexuality, breaking toxic relationships, it was great!

However, the second half was so chaotic and not well written, that it kinda crushed this novel for me.

Florence Given is good with words. That being said, this book was a choice. It read like fanfiction, which isn't a bad thing, I was just not expecting it.
Girlcrush is not just a sapphic book, it's a social media thriller. Do what you must with that information.
I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone, but if you enjoy very weird and dark novels, go for it.

Read this one over a year ago and forgot to add it to Goodreads! Love Florence, but this just didn’t really hit for me. The themes seemed very in your face and I wanted more nuance

This was a bit messy lol
I like the way she writes about queerness and her queer characters feel real, but beyond that I didn’t really enjoy this. The novel is set in the year 2030 but this world is never really touched upon apart from vaguely alluding to the fact everyone is addicted to their phones. The dialogue wasn’t very believable- there were too many all caps moments fr. Also the ‘director notes’(?) kind of made no sense because they didn’t really add anything to the story at all. Eartha was pretty unlikeable but I don’t think she was meant to be. I feel like the whole conflict of the book could have been avoided quite easily if Eartha actually read her contracts, everything felt a bit one dimensional. The whole thing just felt too disjointed and not edited enough for me lol but I’m sure someone would enjoy this more than I did
