Read this because of a trivia question, and found Ellison’s style very strange. Sci-fi, yet poetic, and with a lot of 2D female characters. It was okay. I liked the titular story and only read the rest to appease my inner completionist.

A shitty book, but interesting to think about. This guy must've felt like he did something amazing and revolutionary when writing these stories. It's a product of it's time (be aware!) Nothing truly is disturbing. I kinda felt myself connecting with AM more than anyone else. Yea, there's way more better sci-fi stories out there with actual thought-provoking subjects and complex view points.

Dark and challenging - it leaves an unsettling feeling in the pit of your stomach. I can't recommend it more! A great horror short story that I am excited to try out the video game adaptation.

I Have no Mouth and I Must Scream:
Frightful future becoming more and more plausable as countries move towards using Super Intelligent AI for purposes of war. Personal interpretation altered to Ellison's words on the story in his accompaning memoir. I indeed did not notice Ellen was specifically black nor did I come away hopeful with the ending, but his words on the matter did change my outlook for the better.

The other stories:
All equally disparging to the human race and it's lowness. I would find it hard to see the bright side in these stories as the author means for the reader to in the first one. Except perhaps for the space circus, which is more sad than it is messed up like the others.
