I liked a few of the ideas shared, but largely felt I wasn’t the target audience for the book, which I envision is working, Christian mothers. There were religious undertones to this book which I was fine with but not expecting.

I really enjoyed listening to this book. Once a fast-paced, working mother, Shauna gives a loving pep talk to Moms about being yourself, enjoying the simpler things of life, and staying present with your family. A number of things discussed really hit home with me.

I realize that there are quite a few negative reviews about this book, but I actually really enjoyed it!

This wasn't the kind of book that I could sit and devour in a short amount of time. It was heavy and loaded with things that made me want to stop and reflect. I only read a few pages each night before bed.

A lot of folks mentioned not being able to relate to the author, but I am far from similar to her, and I still found it relatable.

I am in my 20s (not my 40s), I am single, and I don't have any children. I'm not an author with tons of gigs and speaking engagements. But, I don't quite think that is the point. I think that the author wants us to analyze the contents of our lives and determine what fuels us. Even if our fuel doesn't have the same context as Shauna's, the root of it is likely similar (perfectionism, proving, outward acceptance, people pleasing, etc.).

The shift in fuel from all of those things to love and faith has helped her reprioritize the things in her life. And, I think her call to action for us is to do the same, which most people could probably benefit from.

I picked this book up because it was a Daily Deal on Audible and I'm glad I only paid a few dollars for it. I've been doing a lot of reading on mindfulness lately and trying to be a simpler, more present person overall.

Unfortunately, this book ends its journey toward a more present life on the cover. Once you've opened the book, you get smacked with religious dogma and a memoir from the author about how busy she is and how she's a workaholic.

If you're interested in hearing a religious individual complain about their life, check out this book. If you're not, I'd recommend spending your time reading nearly anything else.
