A 4.5 for me. A really strong (good) message about not hustling. Almost feels like she can see into my brain.

I heard so many rave reviews of this book and it just didn't do it for me. I would give it 2-2.5 stars, but went with three--I don't know why. Some good lessons and points of view, but nothing earth shattering for me. Okay.

So many great timeless truths and reminders about what really matters in life.

Present Over Perfect is such a wonderful book. It writes about seasons of life where struggle is present, the battle with perfectionism, and why people get so wrapped up in the image of success and wellness. This book was everything I needed it to be; a message of messiness and imperfection, a story of lived experience with perfectionism, ties to God and who Jesus calls us to be, and what it looks like to allow the self to be human.

I read this book at a time when I felt unsatisfied in my life and struggled with the notion of being vulnerable, "messy", and healing from hurts. Niequist wrote a beautiful story that reminds me that it is okay to be exactly who I am, to embrace the whole self, and to take Jesus with me everywhere.

I highly recommend this book to all people. It brings in God's grace and His love for us no matter what we are going through. It relays hopeful messages of authenticity. It portrays grace, real-life experiences, and the message that it is okay to be exactly who you are.

The author is easy to read and authentic in relaying this segment of her life journey. That being said I felt the narrative was redundant with limited concrete ideas on how to make a similar journey. i would happily give another one of the author's books a try but I can't wholeheartedly recommend this one.

If you’re Agnostic like me, you might get thrown by the Jesus parts of this book. Don’t be; it’s got so many incredible nuggets of wisdom.

The author is a really good writer. I didn't feel like I connected with her story or I probably would have rated it higher.

Anne Lamott, Brene Brown wisdom and wanna be. Makes a lot of good points about being present for the people and experiences in your life. Lots of god talk sprinkled in, which I didn't enjoy, but otherwise has good things to say.
