Wow! This book will take you to some scary places. You think you have family issues; they are nothing like what Mattie has had to deal with. Life has handed Mattie one bowl of shit after another. So yes she has hardened her heart but she isn’t cold. When West manages to sneak past the barriers he doesn’t do right by her. He is torn by the ghost of her sister, the girl he thinks is her sister and Mattie. Watching them work it all out will drag emotions out of you that you weren’t aware you had.
A Year of You is not for the faint of heart. There are some very dark moments. This story kept me turning pages and kept me up way past my bedtime.

This was a dark story. It is compelling, scary, violent and just plain mean, at times. The relationships between all the characters make you catch your breath wondering where the story is going to go with new information discovered and it makes you scream in frustration when it doesn't go the direction you thought it might. The author keeps you running and by the end you will be panting. There is a love story, although different, there is drama and mystery, but the violence and secrets wrapped around it will make you gasp and cry, possibly at the same time. There is some torture, but it is necessary to the book and the author doesn't overdo it where it becomes horrific for the sake of being horrific. The strength of Mattie, our heroine, is amazing, and when she reaches deep within herself to come out on the other side of this alive....well, lets just say, (with a fist pound to the sky) YES!
