Strangers in Time is one of those books that quietly sneaks up on you. On the surface, it’s about three strangers brought together during an incredibly hard time but as the story unfolds, it becomes clear it’s really about the family we choose when life doesn’t go as planned.

I appreciated how each character felt layered: imperfect, guarded, but ultimately human. Their bond didn’t feel rushed or overly sentimental it felt earned. The pacing dragged a little in the middle for me, which is why it’s not a full five stars, but the emotional payoff was definitely worth it.

If you enjoy books about found family, resilience, and healing through unexpected connections, this one’s worth picking up.

This was my first book by David Baldacci. From what Ive heard, it's different subject than most of his books. This one a work of historical fiction and the heartfelt story of three people, two teenagers and an older man, who encounter one another during the desperate times of WWII in London, when air raid sirens and bombings are a way of life. Each of them comes from a different place of social standing with their own unique set of challenges and losses. There are many side stories that the three characters face together. Some of the war-related information I didnt entirely understand, but that didnt take away from the story at all, as the book is really about the human element. I look forward to trying a few more books by this author.

The audio for this was fantastic and that’s where I feel most of my stars are going towards - it was immersive and really well done. The story itself was interesting, but just tragedy after tragedy. This was definitely a character driven book. I also felt like we followed Charlie so closely at the start and then he and his story faded into the background as the story progressed.

I shouldn’t be bored to tears reading a book about some of the most intense moments in history
