this took me SO long to read. i found it intriguing and the writing was very original but after the house of the dragon section wrapped up i must admit i did just find myself wishing to finish the book, i wasn’t really taking anything in so i think reading this before any knowledge of house of the dragon and no preferences to any characters would have been more enjoyable. the world building is as incredible as always with george r r martin.

3.5 is my actual rating. It was pretty good, but not good enough for a 4. Having said that, I eagerly await the sequel.... And eagerly await the last book in the A Song of Fire & Ice series.
