lo abierto que terminó no puedo creer que martin todavía no saque el otro que hago con mi vida ahoraaaa

I flat out loved this book. I'm delighted for any new material from this series, and having it in the form of Targ family history written in a form of a historical text satisfied me on multiple fronts.

I've seen some complaints that it's just rehashing The World of Ice and Fire, but while it has some similarities, the book is much more rich in its detail. When I got to the chapter called The Sons of the Dragon, I went into it thinking that I was just going to re-familiarize myself with what was written, having read the chapter when it was released in one of the anthologies that GRRM participated in. Boy, was I surprised when I found that the chapter had been expanded upon further, providing much more information and giving life to several other characters. I was thrilled and even happier.

(And as for its similarities to TWOIAF, both books were supposed to have been written by Maesters, and that one drew a fair amount of information from the other, so it makes sense that there would be similarities.)

Loved every page of the book, and have since ordered my own copy just in time for the holidays. I'll be quite happy to have it available for a re-read, since my library's copies are going to be quite held up for a while due to the many requests for the book.

If you love ASOIAF, Targaryens, and enjoy historical texts, this is definitely the book for you.

I can’t believe it took me 3 years to finally pick this book up again and read it. While written differently from the Song of Ice and Fire, more like a nonfiction historical text, it was still very fascinating. It was so cool to see the first nearly 200 years of Westeros. I loved finally learning more about Aegon and his sisters conquering Westeros. I mourned when the reign of King Jaeherys and Queen Alysanne came to an end. And also, once again, I get to watch each new episode of the House of the Dragon sort of knowing what horrors are to come. I highly recommend reading this book. But be prepared that it reads differently from most other fantasy stories.
