I found myself enjoying the book on occasion, flew through it, but overall it wasn’t my favorite. I also felt it was a bit predictable and not as scary/haunting as I thought it would. I do really like Native American history and culture and I think that was what made it the most interesting to me. Decent enough quick read but I wouldn’t find myself rereading it.

I wouldn’t consider this horror - this was more of a crime/thriller/family drama story. It could have been 30% shorter.

Interesting story but the writing was not quite as polished as it could be - some strong editing to make plot points a little less convenient, a little better hinted at, would have benefited this book greatly. Still worth a read, very atmospheric.

I don't think I'm the biggest fan of the ending overall and the story was a bit slower paced. the descriptions were pretty great & I enjoyed the horror aspects. it had some fun nods to Stephen King & his work and I was definitely uncomfortable & tense in a few different moments so bravo! I would definitely pick up more of Wurth's work in the future.

This was beautiful. I really loved this, but it took about 100 pages for me to get fully engaged with this book. The pacing was slower than what I usually enjoy, but those who truly love a good slow burn will rate this higher.
