Michael Dean has a voice that hits in all the right spots. There were moments his voice dripped along my spine and kept me mesmerized with Cort and Cam’s story. Out of everything, my favorite parts of narration were how he portrayed their text conversations. He captured the different tones and inflections for Cam and Cort’s responses, it felt like he knew them. He had a very alpha like quality to his voice.

Cortland is determined to find a way locate and clear his foster brother, Damon, of any wrongdoing in the Seaver plane crash. He didn’t expect to find Camden Seaver, very much the antithesis of what he was expecting to find. Geeky, self-conscious, and desperate to be anywhere but where he was. He wasn’t expecting to be so drawn to someone he was supposed to hate.

The attraction between Cortland and Cam, burned in all the best ways. When the first met, they challenged each other, teased each other, and found something completely unexpected in each other.

Cortland’s desire to be as many of Cam’s firsts, well, *fans self* it was just so good. The heat factor on this one is up there. He pulled Cam out of his shell, taught him how to experience life again after a devastating loss. Cam grounded Cort. He let Cort know that there were more people in life that he could depend on than himself.

The epilogue made me so happy. I needed to know what things would be between Cort and Cam after everything. And I got more of their text conversations. I probably smiled way too much at my desk at work listening to them banter back and forth.

This was definitely a book I was able to get lost in and loved listening to.

I skipped a lot of this book.
There seems to be zero chemistry with the guys, I know this author can do great chemistry but she didn't do it here.
Too much of the book is just words, they seem to have no real purpose other than to increase word count.

I felt like several parts of this was rushed. The conflict was resolved too quickly and I thought I had skipped a few chapters accidentally at a few points. I get that some of the story continues into the other two books in the series, but it just seemed major plot points were glossed over.

Another book that captured my attention!

I love, love, love Cam and Cort's banter, especially in their text messages! That alone got me hooked!

As for the mystery, for once I was right!!!! I had an inkling and woohoo!

However, there were still some questions unanswered and after reading the little snippet for the next book, there are even more questions!

Enjoyed the epilogue and also the bonus! Will definitely read on!

WOW WOW WOW! I absolutely LOVED this book. The chemistry of Cort and Cam was off the charts. I just adored Cort, he had me laughing out loud at his texting conversations with Cam. He was totally charming, even when he was struggling with why he cared about Cam so much. The story otherwise was very interesting. Cam's parents were killed in a plane crash that was flown by Cort's brother. Cort and Cam's brother are both looking into the crash (separately) because something feels off. We have a nice little mystery on our hands while watching Cort struggle with loyalty to his brother and his feelings towards Cam, while watching Cam struggle with his feelings for a man who seems to have tons of secrets. I laughed a lot during this, and I swooned many times. I loved these guys. I can not WAIT to read the next book.

Oh, I really liked this story! The storyline is fantastic, the mystery about the plane accident is so very well done!

I love the way the relationship between Camden and Cort evolves, slowly, going back and forth due the secrets Cort is keeping until he is unable to sustain the silence and all the truth comes out in the open.

They are both complex, interesting characters. You might want to scream at them from time to time but can't help to understand why they are acting as they do. And the fraternal love between Cort and Damon and Camden and Baz is a great motivation and point of understanding between them.

The dynamic between the two MC is also great. I love that they are in equal footing, and how to show vulnerability and trust each other is a conscient decision.

I'm looking forward to the next books in this series.

Michael Dean does a better job here than in other books that I had listen with him as narrator, but I still think he is over the top in some scenes, particularly when portraying strong emotions.

3.5 Stars.

For the most part, I found this really enjoyable.

My attention did wane a bit at the end and there are still unanswered questions regarding the whole plane crash (which I hope get answered at some point in this series), otherwise this would have been a solid 4 star read.

Intriguing book with a tense, suspenseful ending

Really enjoyed this book. I liked the characters, found the storyline interesting (though I deduced who the bad guy was very, very early on) and the climatic scene was appropriately tense. Only problem I had, and it was a big one, is that the reasoning behind the bad guy’s motives was never fully explained and the outcome for the bad guys was never given. I hate when things end up in the air. Additionally the explanation for Cort’s position at the end is decidedly vague.

Overall a good book though and worth the read.

I loved this one, characters, plot, and resolutions, and I am delighted that there will be a sequel, and with who's stories it is. It is a treat to find an author whose style feels made for my brain. :)
