The emotional impact this book had on me was unlike anything I have ever experienced while reading. I was crying happy tears and sad tears. I screamed out of anger and devastation. I sat in silence due to shock and awe. By the end of the book I was emotional drained and ready for more all the same time. Such a beautiful and raw story that feels all too real for it to be fantasy.

“I know you’re used to people wanting your power, but gods, Bones, all I want is you.”

WOW! I absolutely loved this book. It had me hooked from the very beginning. (This book has very dark themes so check TW.)

Bones is born with a healing gift and is captured at a young age and used for others gain. She is eventually taken and forced to confront her past and the horrors she has survived. She has had a very rough life and when it seems like she is finally able to have a home/family it all gets taken away again. This book will rip your heart out, put it back together, then rip it out again! I had so many emotions and feelings reading this book and loved Bones' character so much!

This book ends with a cliffhanger and I can't wait to see what happens next!

I’m so incredibly happy I found this book, I was recommended by my sister after she told me it had her sobbing at the ending. And I can confirm that it was exactly the same for me.
Genuinely the entire last hour had me crying so hard my throat hurt, it just kept getting more heartbreaking. It wasn’t the actual chapter (you know which one) that made me cry but the following ones until the end of the sadness, grief and despair.
Also, I when guessing the twist trying to quiz my sister while also telling her to keep a neutral face I predicted Trey dying as I said he was too kind, precious and sweet. I am so sad I was right.

This whole book was amazing kept me gripped the entire time and so emerged and interested in every chapter.
Again, reading the acknowledgements I’m so glad I found this as an indie book. Everyone needs to read this it is phenomenal.
I loved all the characters, the world and the writing.
I knew it was too good to be true through the absolute joy Trey and Bones were in. They are so precious and I loved them both.
Honestly my heart hurts now thinking about Trey, he was so kind and special, exactly what Bones needed.

Okay, I’m going to stop now I could carry on but I need to sleep after finishing this in around 24 hours. I physically couldn’t put it down.
I need to get on to the second one now. And I bet she puts out a third one as I know I’ll be down with the next one just as quick.

I’ll start off with the positive and say that there are some really lovable characters and some interesting world building.

But jfc this book puts you through hell. Don’t read this if you’re in a bad place or need something to take you away from the horrors of the real world. Don’t read this if you want an HEA or something even closely resembling that.

Sometimes the main character also made some really shitty decisions to the point where I almost DNF’d, but I wanted to see if it got better. It did… eventually, but then it got worse. Not sure I can bring myself to read the next one.

This book is heavy, so check those trigger warnings.

FMC is extremely annoying in her repetition of saying “I’m fine”. Also her treatment of one of the MMC’s was abhorrent and he deserved better/ so much more. I understood why she treated people in the Vault the way she did, but dear god it was frustrating and in general, so undeserved. Also the fact that people seemed to love her so much despite her terrible attitude seemed a bit too unrealistic.
