My only complaint is that to start, it was hard to get into because you don’t know enough about the characters yet to care about them. Once you get through that, the rest was easy.

I could relate to multiple things from each character and the dialogue between the main characters was fun to read. And i’m not a romance reader! :O I enjoyed this book much more than I thought!

I could see this book being a hit or miss for some people, depending on what stage of your life you’re in! Give it a try! :D

The truth is that I knew from the prologue this was going to be a 5-star read. The way the premise of the cold-hearted city villain partner from the small town romance trope is so perfectly described in Nora and that first meeting with Charlie… that prologue like the entire novel had me kicking my feet and squealing, snickering on my commute, laughing out loud at home. This has banter, emotional depth, a boatload of humour and wonderful love story of familial and romantic love and grief and healing. I can’t share enough superlatives about this book.

Nora and Charlie are the unapologetic antithesis to small town romance protagonists even though most of this book and the development of their relationship happens in a small town. The character development was stellar of both main and supporting characters, the plot was well-paced with minimal/palatable holes, the dialogue was smart and snappy and the sort to make you smile foolishly as you read. I loved how the main characters loved each other and their families in a way that was inconveniently supportive and in a way that truly wanted the best for the other person. The message hear wasn’t necessarily that love heals or that love sacrifices but that love wants the other person to thrive. This was an absolute delight to read- I kept reaching for it and even though it dealt with a few heavy themes around grief, trauma and mental health, these were all handled responsibly and with a momentum that was real but also wasn’t triggering as it kind of replicated the coping mechanisms many people have for dealing with grief and trauma when they have real life responsibilities. I highly recommend checking this out- I’ve read 3 books so far from this author and they have all been stellar!

A sweet romance where her ambitions and dreams are not overshadowed by the romance.

This book deserves 5 stars for the sole reason that Nora is not a tiny woman and Charlie is not towering over her. Why does every romance book needs a tiny woman for it to be romantic? Thank you Emily Henry. Also the change from quirky different girl to a more common person. Thank you Emily Henry. I really liked the quotes and the writing on this book. I cried happy tears at the end.

It was a little difficult to get into at the beginning. I don’t like the brand name dropping so the mention of Peloton so often started to annoy me 😂 also didn’t enjoy all the made up words are so cringey - powling, smout, smirting, scowting.

Nora is basically Amanda from The Holiday (I love that movie and that character)! I fell in love with Nora and Charlie. The love of books and reading, trying to find a sense of belonging, being organized, and being parentified by your parents was all so relatable!

I read this in two days which is very fast for me!! The banter has me blushing and giggling, this is why enemies/rivals to lovers is my fave trope-THE WITTY BANTER AND JOKES ARE ADORABLE 😍🥹

I did not want to put this down, I had to force myself to set it aside because stupid responsibilities. The last chapters had me sobbing 😭 Even despite the rough start, I loved reading this so much that by the 50 page mark on, the “negatives” don’t even affect my rating lol Henry does it again and I can’t wait to read more from her!!

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5)

This book is not only about being in love with books. And how they amazingly can not only help you but can take ou out of reality. This book is about not feeling being in the picture, about grief and how she affecting us, and our decisions and life. How Choosing yourself first is hard when you always put everyone and everything on number one spot and leave yourself in the last. This book has a small floss in my pinion. But it not changing for me the message in it. It's was such a nice experience. And great reminder that we sometime have to put ourselves and our dream in first place. And its okay life sometimes sucks but important staff that we love will not disappear. The will always find the one way to us. And that makes this sometimes-not-great life amazing and magical at times.

When I read the description of this book, I didn’t think I would relate to literary shark Nora. But the number of highlighted quotes and moments that left me sobbing in my partner’s arms proves that you can’t judge an archetype by her tropes.
