Nowadays, people want to be warned about triggers, so I will start out by saying this: this book is written as the confession and story of a pedophile narrator. How he groomed, seduced, and stole away on a cross-country trip his newly acquired stepdaughter. Although the content is deeply disturbing, the author is a very talented wordsmith and writer, and so I can not justify rating this story anything other than four stars.
