I am addicted to this book, I really enjoyed the story and the start of the world building. Tessa is a bad ass and I can’t wait to see where her story goes. As for the other 3 hotties yum 🤤 Theon is currently my fav 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 great start to this series

Both the FMC and MMC are insufferable!! I have never been this annoyed by the main characters. I feel like the "science" behind the bonds is weak, as if the author was making it up on the go throughout the series. The book also felt redundant at times. With that said, I devoured all 3 books in a week. I just couldn't put them down. I loved the toxic, slow burn passion? -definitely not romance- between Theon and Tessa, I loved the secondary characters, and all the secrets and scheming. I can't wait to read book #4.
Moderate: Bullying, Emotional abuse, Toxic relationship, Blood, Abandonment
I DNF at 45%
I went into Rain of Shadows and Endings cautiously optimistic. Cause nearly 700 pages is a lot, but the beginning pulled me in quickly. The setup was intriguing, and I thought I was in for an immersive fantasy ride.
Unfortunately, the deeper I got, the more disappointed I became. By 27%, I already felt the pacing dragging and was frustrated with the main character. She felt weak and acted childish, which made it hard to stay connected. Still, I pushed on, hoping things would improve.
I made it to 45%, which was like 2 weeks. (i read quicksilver in one day and iron flame in 2 Days). So over 300 pages before I had to DNF. That says a lot, because I normally push through books even when I’m not enjoying them. I even took a break and came back after reading something else, hoping I’d feel refreshed. But instead, it felt like I was being forced to read it. Like someone was holding me hostage with this book.
Nothing significant had happened by that point. There’s no clear explanation of the world, no understanding of how the magic system works, and the plot feels nonexistent. It’s just slow… painfully slow. And when a book of this length can’t hold my attention halfway through, I know it’s time to let go.
