Yikes …..

This book deserves two awards:

1) Somehow making it onto the market with 90% of dialogue being the characters telling each other they need to have a conversation about plot points that could instead just HAPPEN (also many said conversations-that-needed-to-be-held were not even held)

2) Repeating itself until the reader reaches their wit’s end

And can be an honorable mention for “Had No Business Being This Long”

I’m not exaggerating either because of disliking the book. In one of the chapters, different pairs of characters discussed needing to ‘have conversations’ 5 times back to back.

The characters were shallow and the plot moved slower than a tortoise with no legs.

Somehow worse than Fourth Wing congratulations.

So much depth to the characters already. A lot of emotional paths that the characters take and keeps you guessing and anticipating the next move they make. My heart feels for the FMC and I just want to see the rest of her journey so badly.

I will finish the série because the storyline is somewhat interesting, but I CANNOT stand Theon. His behaviour is unacceptable and as much as we love a protective main character, this is just too much, to the point that I felt uncomfortable reading some parts of the book. Let's not even talk about axel and Luka.

Even Tessa us frustrating af. There's Feyre's frustrating level and Violet frustrating level. Tessa is in the middle, frustrating af but it's somewhat understandable why. But also, no.

And I'm not sure if I've been reading so much romantasy that I'm just getting things faster than before or not, but the plot is very easy to guess and it's a bit disappointing. The only interesting thing that kept me going is to find out how everything came out.

I was excited going into this as some booktok people I follow rated this 5 stars, but this just didn’t hit for me 🤷🏻‍♀️

Honestly it was so depressing, the pacing felt slow, the poor FMC, there’s lack of communication, three of the male side characters are more interesting than the MMC, things felt repetitive at times.

The end started getting interesting, but this book did not need to be as long as it was. I’m curious about the next book to see what happens next, but I’m in no rush

i absolutely ATE THIS UP! i put off reading this for awhile because i didn’t think it would be as good as “Lady of Darkness,” but i was SO wrong. I haven’t felt this excited over an ending like this since crescent city 2. i LOVE a good multiversal cross over

This book wasn’t for me. There wasn’t much of a plot to be honest. The main characters fought, bickered and annoyed each other the entire book and I think that was supposed to be the plot? The FMC seems completely unaware/ignorant of the world she lives in. Her race is destined to serve another and she’s over here complaining about not having pizza and donuts. I read a few other reviews and mostly it’s hate for the MMC but I think he was written accurately. He’s a rich kid, who has been tortured and molded by his father. They own slaves and see nothing wrong with it because that is the world they live in. The story was just boring, nothing ever really happened.

I had a good time with this one! I really liked the world building and the fact that the heroine wasn't a pushover.
This book is very much character driven and that was a bit of a downside for me. I got a bit zoned out/bored at certain parts and a lot of the arguments between the fmc and mmc became a bit repetitive, without any solution or steps toward a solution. The book also felt really long. But I liked it enough to continue with book 2!
