A beautiful introduction to architecture. Shape poems accompany pictures of children building, with photos of related architecture on the facing page. Very cleverly done! I want to use this at the beginning of our architecture unit for third grade.

Uses concrete poetry to connect everyday play with structures around the world. The last few pages give more information about the buildings and the architects that designed them. Perfect nonfiction for young children.

Love the combination of poetry, illustrations and photographs. Imagination and real world connections.

This is a case where form forgoes functionality--and unfortunately it diminishes readability. The poems mimic the shape and structure of the architecture. I wasn't sure in which order to read lines of the poem.

With a few pages pinned, this would be great for baby & toddler playgroup. Without pages pinned it would work for pre-school story time! I love that there are photos of actual, architecturally interesting buildings and illustrations of the similar concepts in kid-construction.

This is a lovely and inspiring book that teaches children how important it is to play.

Bright, intuitive and warm illustrations accompany concrete poetry and beautiful photographs of astoundingly creative architecture. Toddlers, preschoolers and early elementary age children will enjoy listening to the verses and comparing the photographs of unique architecture with the illustrations of children building their version of the buildings. With school age children, this book will work excellently as the beginning of a STEAM program.

Genius! Super inspiring to see children's building games translated into architecture! and the architects are diverse and the buildings are all over the world! Love the extra info in the back! ♥️
