Quick easy read, no OW/OM drama, no cheating, a breath of fresh air in romanceland lately! *lol*
This was my first Sarah O'Rourke book, and I was not disappointed! Faith and Cain are long-time sweethearts, engaged to be married before he gets shipped off to Afghanistan. As a doctor it's his job to save lives, not take them, and after more death than he can handle, he is a changed man. The mental and physical scars leave him feeling like a shell of his former self and he decides it's in Faith's best interest to end things.
Faith is devastated by the Dear Jane letter, and decides to move on with her life after finding out that Cain has been home for a month with no contact. While Faith throws herself into work, Cain curls up in the bottom of a beer bottle. But her three sisters and Cain's twin brother have their own ideas as to how the couple should be coping.
I seriously cannot wait to finish this series. This book was full of bossy men and equally bossy women as well as lots of steamy, southern loving. If you like a good balance of dirty talking men with a sweet streak, mixed with women who take no crap, this is your book. Well done ladies!

This story just breaks my heart. What Cain went through in Afghanistan and his too quick rash decision to let go of the love of his live, Faith just makes me want to reach into the book and hug them both. Sarah O'Rourke is a new author for me and I am instantly drawn to her style of writing. I absolutely adore Faith and her name suits her character. Yes, her faith was broken but when she regained it back she can love so fiercely.
I do hope Cain will be healed enough to pick up the mantle of being a Doctor again. This story tug my heartstrings and the sexy times ... whoa momma! It almost burnt my Kindle. The secondary characters are good as well, I cannot wait for Abel who is Cain's twin. Also that yummy Sheriff Zeke! The McKinnon sisters sounds like the type of women I'd love to hang around with. Looking forward to read all their HEA, especially Honor's.
I do agree with a reviewer about the story is kind of "safe" and not much drama or OMIGOSH moments. I'm fine with it because it's just the kind of book I want to sink into after reading all those bitch/backstabbing/manwhoring books that I read for the past months. I still recommend this book though.

Dr. Cain Turner's is in Afghanistan, suffering through all sorts of mental and physical anguish and in the midst of that, he loses all hope of ever being a normal man again. He thinks that he has nothing to offer his love, Faith, so he breaks it off with her...in a letter. Faith receives that letter and is understandably devastated. How can these two find their love and learn to trust again?
The Good
The chemistry is strong between Cain and Faith, and the love scenes are excellent. Their issues are believable something that happens every day and made me connect to them. Cain and Faith’s trust issues and the reasons for their breakup are explored thoroughly in a way drew me in and even when I was frustrated at their inability to see past their own pain, I wanted them to figure it out and get together. There’s the beginnings of a mystery involving Faith’s baby sister, Honor, which I can see building until her book inevitably comes out. This is a major event that is traumatic and a possible trigger for some folks, even if it’s only alluded to for the most part. The writing’s solid and the pacing worked for me.
The Just Ok
Now this is strange coming from me, but I did think there was alot of sex for the length of the story. Very sexy so I didn’t mind, but I also wouldn’t have minded seeing that time devoted to exploring Cain’s PTSD issues in a more meaningful way. I felt that Faith took that letter at face value and I would have liked to have seen her make some attempt to fight for this love, instead of just giving up.
The Bottom Line
A solid start to a new series and a (new to me) author made this a great pickup. It’s an angsty, sexy, genuine story that made me eager to read the next book.
