Lovely short story about a boy rejected by his family who discovers courage, and ultimately redemption through Christ: but also from the shame of his family's choices. Also very good in connecting what happens in two of the stories.

My one complaint is the proliferation of back scabbards in this series. By which I mean sword scabbards, allowing the sword to be worn across the back. They look cool, they're a trope, but they would have been extremely impractical in real combat situations. A person would have to have exceptionally long arms, or risk slicing their own neck upon to draw the thing each time.

My Favorite Character is Alfred- who is hurt, broken, looking for freedom, and later redeemed.

Thoughts: This is one of the shortest stories I've read but it has one of the most important lessons to learn woven into it. I really enjoyed this short story and its great message of redemption.

My Verse for this story: Psalm 49:15
But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. Selah. King James Version.

I received this book in exchange for my honest review. (And I am truly happy to provide it! :-) )

This was a very short, but well written story. Sarah Holman does a wonderful job of weaving in important messages from God's Word into her stories and making them real.
