I really enjoyed the descriptions of injury which were enough to impress the danger and make me uneasy but didn't seem gratuitous. If you're a biologist, this book also has a semi-accurate (though it feels real) portrayal of how competitive the academic biology environment is.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is a little slow, but I didn't mind it as I enjoyed the cast of characters enough for it to not really be an issue for me. Definitely a Sci-Fi horror worth reading if you're alright with a bit of gore.

A bit rambling in parts with the constant switching of perspective, including mid scene, but mostly cause I want the action to KEEP GOING. The book was terrifying and fascinating and I want more and the science was interesting and my god do not go in the ocean. The ending was a bit abrupt with a few loose ends: I actually want MORE science, to learn more biology, but overall what a book.

A siren horror book that was well-paced in my opinion and a nice change of genres.

For some reason this took me aaaages to get through, despite it being a pretty engaging story. As always, I really enjoyed Grant's writing and her ability to give each character a unique voice. Some of the deaths in this book are wonderfully gory and awful which I loved, but at the same time, I never really believed the stakes were very high for our main cast of characters. The ending also felt a bit rushed and too neatly wrapped up. Still a creepy read though I want more about the toxins and the pseudocrabs now 👀
