I believe this is the first book that I have read from Katherine Center. I have others but have not had the chance to read them. I really enjoyed this book. I really liked Katie and her journey of getting to self love. Hutch was a great guy and could he do anything wrong. Haha!

I did not care for Cole and his silly lie that Katie went along with, but I guess we wouldn't have the story without it. I look forward to reading more from this author. Thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for the e copy.

*spoiler alert*

i do have to apologize in advance, katherine center.  forgive me - this is only my opinion so please don't take it to heart!!! BUT WHOOSH. the plot was ROUGH. i haven't even finished it yet, but i cannot anticipate finding a redeeming quality with 10% left.

all the men in this book need therapy - there's gaslighting, ignoring women's autonomy, and general badness all around. cole can fuck right off. also the main love interest's name is HUTCH???? really? and who names their dog george bailey? one of the most whiny depressing characters in the history of film (sorry all - i hate that movie). ALSO HE ABANDONS HIS DOG IN A HURRICANE WTF MAJOR RED FLAG

And guess what - the main character gets TRAPPED IN THE HURRICANE. And after all the ups and downs including parental death in fiery car wreck, massive layoffs at the main character's company, men AUCTIONING OFF their girlfriend (WHEN SHE WASN'T EVEN HIS GF - HE LIED ABOUT IT), the main character FORGETS TO EVACUATE DURING A HURRICANE.

this book is wild and i think it made me physically ill.

Update upon completion - still bad.

This was a Book Club pick… it was definitely not on my list of favorite books. I think I like the authors note at the end of the book then the actual book. It was a cute love story, with lots of random disasters along the way.

The main focus of this one is body image. It was good, but I like her earlier books better, I feel as if they were more memorable than this one.

“She was trying to teach me the rules of being a successful woman as she understood them. And it never occurred to her that women might be able to write those rules for themselves.”

How many tropes can you fit into one book? Katherine Center said let’s find out!

Ok the title is a stupid premise and not at all what is delivered. The main character is deeply annoying for the first 1/3 but then we settle into a really good story with probably 1-2 too many elements (famous boyfriend could go with no loss at all).
