When starting Love Haters by Katherine Center I really didn’t know what to expect. I decided to go in blind and I really am happy I did. In this book we follow Katie, a videographer that is tasked with making a short documentary film on a local coast guard diver, Hutch, that has gained fame and reputation for being a hero. Katie expectations are diminished once meeting him and now is fighting her emotions towards him all together. This book is a romance book but it’s also so much more than that. It explores body imagining concerns, familial issues, childhood trauma, sibling rivalry among other factors. I really enjoyed how well this book was written and how the author managed to give a voice to the issues that were portrayed in this book so flawlessly and with much consideration. I think many people can relate to the issues brought up in this book as many have suffered from one or more of the issues and can appreciate the message behind this novel. This was more than the concept of love but it was more about finding love for oneself to then give to others. This was a delightful heartwarming novel and I do recommend to anyone that wants to read a great book about love and family and the power of friendship.

3.5. I found this overall really charming! I’m not a huge romance reader, but I’ve read a couple of the author’s other books and will continue to read them. I thought the conflict drummed up with Hutch and Cole was kind of stupid and I didn’t think it fit Katie’s character to go along with it, but overall, this was a good book that’s going to appeal a lot of readers.

Thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for the ARC.

Gosh I’m so sad bc I was really looking forward to this book… first of all I love Katherine Center as an author. She writes well and creates cute characters.

That being said this book just had waaaay too much going on. Like pick one or two topics and stick with it. I felt like the book was really all over the place and the fmc really started to annoy me.

I also don’t think this should be considered a romance bc that was barely talked about. And there wasn’t a lot of chemistry between the fmc and the mmc. I think there was a lot of potential for their romance and I had moments where I was really excited just for it to fall so flat. There were still cute things in this book and loveable characters just not my favorite of hers unfortunately.
