3.5 stars. Audiobook. I read a physical copy of book one in the Bess Crawford series. Though the narrator was excellent, it wasn’t the voice I expected of Bess. I will try reading rather than listening book 3.
Very much enjoyed this book, though the plot seemed to stall out in the middle.

Really loved this. I might even love it more then the first one. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because it was hard for me to keep the large cast of characters straight because of their connections to each other.

The second installment of the Bess Crawford series was an enjoyable read. Bess finds herself involved in another mystery while home on leave that involves one of her patients. The suspects are plentiful in this one and will keep you reading to find out who the killer is. Looking forward to reading the next one soon!

I like the main character, but it does seem like she can get leave with the drop of a hat.

Really enjoy hearing about life in WWI - it's not a period I'm familiar with and its fun to be listening to that. I like Bess, too. Fun reads.

Love the Bess Crawford series by Charles Todd. The second book in the series, An Impartial Witness follows Bess, a nurse during WWI, as she solves a murder involving one of her patients. Bess is an interesting character with lots of spunk. It's also an interesting look at WWI which is an area of history I'm not as familiar with. I'm looking forward to reading more in this series.

This is the second in the Bess Crawford series. Bess, a young English woman, is a dedicated nurse during WWI. She solves mysteries when she is home on leave and finds herself in situations where her intelligence and curiosity are tested. I enjoyed this book nearly as much as the first, Duty to the Dead.
