"In order to gain something, you have to lose something."
I think that it is a bitter-sweet story. It discusses the regrets, the memories, and the value of life. Would there be a difference in the world without you in it.
This story did not pull me at the beginning although the premise of it seemed interesting to me. The main character was at the brink of his death, hence it made sense why he did not thoroughly think through the impact of these existing objects tobe deleted from this world. In just seven days, I saw the main character develop his thinking although not in a very polished way. I think that it has a great message of showing people to live life to the fullest. I think that I enjoyed the couple last chapters the most and I think that it would be better if it held that consistency from the beginning. I also think that there might be a translation problem where the translator was not able to probably convey the author's words in the right way from Japanese to English.
Overall, the story was nice and I teared up a bit.

This just didn’t do it for me. Perhaps the translation was part of the problem? The last Japanese author I read also had a very quirky, flippant style so maybe the typical writing style of these authors doesn’t vibe with me. This was way over the top on the “hey man you’re going to die! I’m the devil and I say let’s make things disappear!” I thought it would be a bit more poignant on accepting morality and also have cute cats in it. Despite Cabbage (the cat) being present, it’s a no and I can’t recommend it.

5 stars!
What a beautiful and thought provoking book! It's a heavy story, but doesn't resort to shock value or thrive on the need to make you cry.
