Crimson frost is the best book in this series so far and I think this series get's better with each book. After the events at the end of last book I had no idea what to expect from this book. It was a really enjoyable read, with again lost of action and I feel like Gwen get's stronger in each book.
The story starts off right in the middle of a scene and quite soon lots of things are happening. The story is fast paced and filled with action.Even though the story is predictable at times I really enjoyed reading it. I just wanted to keep on reading to know what would happen next. So much happens in this book. I really liked the ending and can't wait to read the next book.
I did have a few issues with some plot lines. Like a certain group that should be honest and balanced, but ended up doing some stupid things like there weren't even thinking or listening at all. Also some characters seem a bit too easy to kill and other too difficult.
The characters develop some more in this book. I did think there was too less romance int his book. Gwen develops some more and seems to get stronger each book. We are also introduced to some new characters. We didn't see much from Daphne and Caston in this book, the focus was mostly on Gwen and the side characters played a smaller part.
The world building mostly builds on what is already knows. Adding knowledge of some artifacts mostly. Most of the world is already know at this time, but small pieces are added.

This is one of those series where each book is better than the last. In books two and three I had lots of problems with repetitious (seriously, I think some lines were even copy-pasted from the first book), and although this one still has some, thankfully it's taken down a notch.

Endlich läuft es gut für Gwen, denn sie hat ein Date mit Logan und dann lernt sie Logans Vater kennen. Er ist ein Teil des Protektorats und will Gwen festnehmen und anklagen. Sie soll Loki befreit haben und jetzt könnte ihr die Todesstrafe drohen. Während sie bis zum Urteil noch weiter am Unterricht teilnehmen soll, versuchen Gwen und ihre Freunde ihre Unschuld zu beweisen. Leider glauben die meisten Schüler die Anschuldigungen und erschweren Gwens Leben.
Im letzten Teil hat Gwen viel über ihre Berührungsmagie erfahren. Sie kann nicht nur die Gedanken, Gefühle und Geheimnisse sehen, sondern sie kann mit ihrer Gabe sogar töten. Dieser Gedanke verstört sie mehr als sie zugeben möchte, aber dadurch zeigt sich auch, dass sie stärker ist, als sie es jemals gedacht hätte. Man fühlt mit ihr und versteht sie. Durch diese außergewöhnliche Situation zeigt sich, wie stark sie geworden ist und was für eine tolle Entwicklung sie durchgemacht hat.
Aber natürlich nicht nur sie, denn auch ihre Verbündeten entwickeln sich im Laufe der Geschichte. Man lernt auch neue Charaktere kennen. Einige von ihnen waren gut und einige von ihnen nicht, aber erstmal musste man herausfinden, wer vielleicht doch zu den Schnittern gehört.
Dieser Teil ist wohl einer der spannendsten der ganzen Reihe und er war einfach unvorhersehbar. Ich konnte es einfach nicht aus der Hand legen und wollte es auch gar nicht. Jennifer Estep steigert sich von Buch zu Buch und ihr Schreibstil wird einfach immer besser. Dramatisch, Überraschend und Packend.
Natürlich wurden auch hier ein paar Anspielungen auf andere Bücher der Autorin gemacht, wie auf das Pork Pit, das in Elemental Assassin vorkommt.
Von der ganzen Reihe gefällt mir dieses Cover am wenigstens, passt aber mit den roten Augen wohl am besten zur Geschichte. Schnitteraugen. Dadurch gefällt es mir dann doch wieder irgendwie. Ich hoffe man versteht, was ich sagen möchte.
Leseempfehlung: Jetzt erst Spartan Frost lese. Die Kurzgeschichte aus der Sicht von Logan Quinn und dann mit dem fünften Teil weitermachen.
