Look, this book is silly and contradictory. Lestat is OP. Sometimes the characters fall into hour-long monologues. A good alternative title might be "Interview with the Vampires" because we get so much backstory. It's hilarious, and at times hilariously bad. But it has rooted itself in my heart, and I will always feel joy and nostalgia when I open this book.
