Things are getting intense at this point of the story arc. I have to agree with Jeppard on his suspicions in this one. I don't trust Fish, and Lucy shouldn't be keeping the kids around when she's sick.

The characters reach a sanctuary as the middle act of the story unfolds. Things are not as they seem to be and this realization will bring the group closer together through surprise, struggle, tragedy and perseverance in the face of disaster. Good stuff.

This might be my favorite volume of this series so far. How does one live in a post-apocalyptic world? How does one connect with strangers again? Lemire is at his best in color.

The artwork in this volume was particularly beautiful, and used varying styles effectively and impressively to help with characterization.

Egads, how does this series keep getting better? I was already into it, but this one was like slipping into a favorite tv series or movie, but with all the fun of a graphic novel - now we're reading the story straight up and down, nope, now it's on its side, while remaining completely engaging and engrossing and not distracting the reader with graphic cuteness or cleverness. Gus is still traveling with Jeppard, and there is a well-stocked dam that only spells trouble in a story like this. So sorry I won't be able to come to work today, I'm reading Sweet Tooth, oops, I mean I'm home with a toothache, yeah, that's it.

Although this still feels like a condensed version of The Walking Dead sans zombies, I am enjoying the relationship between Gus and Jepper, the empathy with which the children hybrids are written, and the style of the art.
