How nostalgic this story is! Hans Christian Andersen is a genius children's author, who weaves in dark bits of reality into his stories cleverly such that children may still enjoy them.

The Emperor's New Clothes is a fashionable story about an Emperor whose clothes are the only things that matters to him. Poor Emperor for being embarrassed to his folk, but I think he needed it to change his way of ruling. I prefer always the original one as it was the first there and also the first I read. It's interesting to see how people can be fooled so easily and I believe even though the setting of the book was in earlier days that it would still apply to todays society.

All of these stories are familiar to me and my two favorites were the Emperor's New Clothes, excellently narrated by Sir Derek Jacobi, and The Wild Swans, read by Penelope Wilton. I also enjoyed the other two, but the Little Mermaid always makes me sad with the way it ends, and while I love David Tennant, the tale of the Fir Tree is not the most interesting. Overall, it was a solid listen.

Again, if I’ve got to listen to it on repeat to entertain a small child, it’s going into Goodreads.

We all know the story, I’m not going to get into it.

But, it is incredible how easily you can apply this to every major group of people with influence and it still fits. Politicians, celebrities, influencers….. the list goes on.

This is the tale of an Emporer who is conned into buying what is dubbed as the world's most beautiful material that only those with an eye for detail can see when in fact there is no material or clothing and so the Emporer is walking around in the nude while no-one says a thing. This is a moral tale about not following those around you but instead making your decisions. Not one of my favourite Andersen tales as it's not dark enough for me but a good light hearted tale that's enjoyable for both children and adults

crazy to think that this ideology is still relevant today. don’t be a fool, please.
