I really liked this one - the best of the lot, so far!

This book started off very confusing and kind of all over the place, but by the end it really tied itself together. Lots of MAJOR plot development for the overall story happens at the end of this book. Even though I saw a lot of the big plot points coming, the reveal was still satisfying! I’m very intrigued by the direction of the series, especially after reading a super mysterious epilogue with shady figures.

There are threats to the Library, as ever- people are unhappy that Irene has taken a Fae apprentice, the world she lives in has an unusual amout of chaos, which includes assassination attempts, arson, and the unwelcome appearance of an old enemy.
Fast paced, quick witted and fantastical adventure.

My least favourite of the series so far. The characters seemed more wooden and the story (to me) just felt a bit laboured. I felt it wasn't of the same high quality as the previous installments. I've really enjoyed the series so far apart from this one and would read the next one too though.

I can't resist a series with a librarian as the main protagonist! And a perfect read for Christmas time
