It began very slowly. I did my best to stay interested, and eventually I was actually paying attention. The devil felt like an odd figure to conjure up for this book, and I wish he were developed more. Why was a certain character just.. dropped, halfway through the book? A lot of repetition of thoughts, some interesting questions, but overall nothing I have never thought about before. The concept was good but it wasn't executed well enough in my opinion. My heart did drop once we reached the title in the story, and I enjoyed the ending, so I suppose it was ok.

I was fascinated and excited by the book’s blurb, but I must say it was a very disappointing reading.
Although this book has less than 100 pages, I really struggled to finish it. Even thorough I was moved by the protagonist’s memories of his mother and family, I didn’t feel truly connected to the very few characters in the story, who didn’t even had names…
Every time the protagonist made an object disappear, he would ponder its influence in the world and in his life… but his thoughts were so utterly boring and not too enlightening. I typically enjoy books like this, but If Cats Disappeared from the World just didn’t resonate with me.
The last two chapters were worth it, almost touching, and gave a good conclusion to this dull book.
