I love getting to read this series in print book format. The colors and images are so beautiful, and I love how carefully crafted each moment is. I cannot wait for the next publication!

Even more miscommunication, manipulation, and pettiness - but also more deities! I could read this forever

Another gorgeously-illustrated, dramatic, tense collection of chapters from the Lore Olympus webtoon. It's nice to see Hades and Persephone practice using calm and straightforward communication even when their emotions are all over the place -- stuff like that makes the drama still feel real and reasonable, which makes it all super easy to get swept up in.

What makes this collection a four-star experience for me personally is that this is where we're introduced to Ares's character. I'm not a fan (I bought the B&N Exclusive cover, not the 'standard' cover, specifically because it annoyed me too much to see Ares on the cover). I think there are things about Ares's character and his role as the god of war and courage that could be interesting, but these traits of his aren't handled with enough nuance in the text IMO. So, the result is a character that is pushy and creepy. I find him exhausting and gross, not chaotic and funny like it seems the tone of the literature is trying to portray him as. The first time we the readers see him interact with Persephone, he's touching her hair and taunting her while she's screaming at him to stop, but of course he doesn't stop. Then, the other chapters, both Hades and Eros are doing a ton of work to manage his inability to manage himself. No, thanks, I don't also want to do that work.

Still, the artwork is consistently astonishingly colorful and gorgeous and I actually like the overall-slower-pacing of these stories that correlate to the webtoon's season 1. The series is still doing a great job building up tiny nuggets of drama that are DEFINITELY going to explode into awesome battles and designs and such. Excited to keep reading!
