I almost DNF. The first 70% of this book was horrible. Doormat of a FMC and apparently people forgot how to actually communicate. For a family that is supposed to be so close there was an insane lack of communication. To the point of stupidity. Last 30% is the only reason this book got two instead of one star.

Between Never and Forever has some of my favorite tropes: enemies(ish) to lovers, childhood sweethearts/second chance, possessive MMC who isn't afraid to go for what he wants, and the micro-trope of being jealous of the FMC's truly purely platonic best friend (and they get to give him grief for it).

Secrets come between them, time can't dull their flame, and they both have to work through their hurt and anger over how things ended when they were young. Tension ensues, QUICKLY.

I loved Kee's journey of finding herself and breaking out of the mold of her "brand." Dex is BEYOND hot and now I need to go back and read the first two books in the series.

Thank you to Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op, Page & Vine and NetGalley for an eARC for my honest feedback.

Keelani and Dex have a romance that started when they were teens but soon feel apart as Keelani’s music career torn apart. But now they are much older…perhaps wiser…but the unresolved emotions and longing between them burns just as brightly as when they left their young love behind. And fate has come calling. Time for the secrets and lies, the unresolved hurt, and the never dimmed love between them to have a reckoning.

Shain Rose ALWAYS delivers the most delicious and addictive alpha heroes and love stories that are so full of emotional ups and downs…and ALL THE STEAM! The drama, the spice, the heartache, the tension- all mesmerizing. And I love the combination of fake engagement and second chance tropes- it gives these characters different dimensions in their relationship, adds a lot of emotional layers, and keeps the romance and connection fast paced and intense. And lordy- Shain can always deliver that SPICE. We get it early, we get it scorching…and it’s panty melting. Dex is SOOOO delicious yall. This man’s possessiveness, his protectiveness, his growly “mine”/”my wife” moments had me swooning. And his mouth?! MEOW. Their chemistry is fire.

These two certainly have a hard fought (over many years) path to their HEA. But it’s worth all the heartache for their beautiful ending.

Ugh, I love Dex so much and honestly I felt for him and what he had to go through. Poor Dex loved Kee and saved her, and tried to do everything he could. But I could not get over Keelani. Why ever she let Dex get painted as a villain and she didn’t do anything about it for over 12 years?? All for her family, which I get.. but why didn’t she trust him enough to tell him?? I was so agitated and annoyed with her for majority of the story.

For that matter… why didn’t Dimitri ever tell Dex??? I feel like this great big thing was created and lasted wayyyyy too long for no reason.

I absolutely love the Hardy brothers and the Armanellis, the first two books of this series were sooooo freaking good! This one just wasn’t for me. But I’ll be waiting for the next book for Dimitri and Olive’s story!

The words were repeated what seems like every other chapter. All stuck on how Kee was in a contract that would make Dex hate her forever. That x50.

Other than that little annoyance the story was good. The spice was 2-3 🌶️.
