No esperaba que me gustara tanto este libro y que me hiciera llorar tanto en las últimas páginas. Los personajes los sentí tan reales y tan honestos. Qué me hizo sentir que los conocía de verdad. Sus reflexiones sobre la vida y la muerte, sobre lo que significa vivir, son simplemente bellas. Es un libro que se queda conmigo.
This book is so pretentious and long-winded. I'm 2/3 of the way done and nothing has happened yet. I'm reading it because my book group read it or I'd have thrown it out by now. It's trying way too hard to be artsy and intense and smart. Instead it's dull and torturous and self-righteous.
I thought I would try this again because so many other people enjoyed it. Every once in a while I retry a book I didn't care for and it will hold my interest. This one didn't.
Allora, io non credo si tratti solo ed esclusivamente di un pavoneggiarsi tra concetti astrusi, ma non posso essere d'accordo con chi tesse le lodi più alte a questo libro. La matrice filosofica si percepisce, e ho apprezzato alcuni passaggi e tecniche utilizzate nella narrazione, ma non ho potuto fare a meno di sentirmi appesantito dal modo in cui questo libro sembri girare costantemente su se stesso, colpendoti in testa con una vorticosa mancanza di sottigliezza, tanto che mi è difficile dire quali aspetti siano stati inseriti intenzionalmente nella struttura del romanzo e quali lo abbiano macchiato irreversibilmente in un maldestro tentativo di aggiungere colore.
Just wonderful. Sad and sweet. A great reminder about judging people and the beauty of everyday.

The first third of this book is difficult to get through, as it consists solely of the existential, somewhat hopeless philosophizing of the two main characters, each isolated from everyone around her. Stick with it. Once you get past the first third, you will be completely sucked in, and by the end of the story you'll understand why the first third was necessary. This is one of the best novels I've read in recent years.
Wasn’t bad, but it was different than I was expecting and I needed a quick read since I have a couple other book club books to catch up on! Will come back to it when I have more time.
