Christmas at the Cat Cafe reads like a hallmark Christmas movie. It’s cute and funny and has a little bit of drama with a happy ending.

3.5. Rounding up for the cute little cat bios at the beginning of every chapter.

I have always had cats. I grew up in Brooklyn and dogs weren’t allowed in apartments, so naturally my rebel parents snuck a kitten in when I was 4. They put him in a little teacup for my bday with a bow on his head & I had him until I was 22.

4.5 stars. Loved the “got off on the wrong foot” trope with Kara and Ben. Also appreciated the anxiety representation through Kara in this book. The chapter headings were the cutest thing and wish more books did them like they were done in this book. Most of their banter made me laugh out loud!!

A Cat Café Christmas is a Christmas rom-com featuring Kara and Ben. Kara is a veterinarian and co-owner of Meow and Furrever Cat Café. She currently has more cats than customers and needs to figure out a way to get the café from red to black. Ben is a marketing wiz, who has some ideas on how to get the café in the black through the day of Catmas. Kara realizes she would be a fool to turn down his help. Ben and Kara need to set aside their differences, and trust in each other to make this a Catmas to be remembered.
The cats in this book were perfection. Each chapter featured a bio of a cat available for adoption, which were sweet and adorable. Adding to that was the healing journey that both Ben and Kara went through in overcoming the heartbreaks they had experienced and learn to trust again. Both had been burned in the past and had a lot of personal growth that needed to happen in order to be able to be in a relationship.
The chemistry and banter between Ben and Kara was perfection right from the start. Even though neither were looking for a relationship, the time they spent together was fun and exciting. I also really liked the grumpy/grumpy trope in this book, it made the characters all the more entertaining. The book was a bit formulaic, but I think that was part of the charm too. It would be a perfect book to read cozy by the fire with a cup of cocoa.
This book was an absolute delight, filled with Christmas spirit. I really enjoyed it and it would be purr-fect for cat lovers and Christmas lovers alike! Thank you to NetGalley and Forever Publishing for a copy of this book. All opinions are 100% mine.

5 out of 5 on my holiday romance scale.
This year was a rough one, several books were DNFed in attempts to find a good holiday romance. Then A Cat Cafe Christmas appeared. Two well-rounded characters with backstories that play throughout the book. Each character grows and evolves during the story. There are cute cats and its the holiday season with Christmas activities.
For a holiday romance this is a winner.

This was a sweet Christmas read. I loved the cat descriptions and illustrations in the beginning of each chapter and the premise was very cool too. I also love reading about characters that look like average and real people instead of ripped men & super models so kudos for that.
I loved that both Kara and Ben had issues with love in the past that have left them struggling a bit, but that they both find something in each other. The moment they were in the car before thanksgiving where Kara said "I like who I am, but it's just hard always feeling like the odd duck out, you know?" I felt so seen as a reader, relating to what she was feeling all too well.
With that being said this book didn't hit as hard as I wanted it to and I have some constructive criticisms. First, I think the author mentioned way too often how different they were and how a relationship between then wouldn't work out. It was a buzzkill. In a book you only have so much time to build up a couple, get chemistry right and make things believable. I think maybe if it was brought up like each of them being concerned about it once or twice and then they communicated those feelings it would have been a bit better. The fact it was mentioned so much made me doubt how long they would last as a couple, and I never think that after reading books.
Also, I really disliked Ben's family and those parts brought down my enjoyment of the book as well. They were insensitive and just wanted him to get over everything. I found it very telling how no one ever asked about how Ben was feeling or doing. The mom just wanted things to go her way and his brother was a huge yikes. The way his sister was written at first I thought she was a teenager, not a fully grown woman with kids and a husband. When Ben finally lost it and said how it wasn't just what his brother did but how quickly he moved on and made things public, I honestly lost all interest for a redemption. He should have gone on his vacation and taken Kara.

Spoiler
If the book is going to end with then visiting Ben's family to spend christmas, then you should have maybe made his family a little more likablesamlw31's review against another edition

Such a cute story with so many laugh out loud moments. 4.5 and not 5 because I thought some parts dragged a bit.
