This book was a harrowing depiction of post-natal depression and was not what I had initially expected. There are are multiple POVs which at times felt a little disjointed but overall focuses on the core 3 characters.

It is far from a light read in terms of context and enjoyed how the tense a lot of the scenes/chapters felt.

The book takes a handful of twists and turns which I didn’t predict which was a nice surprise although the end resolve felt a little flat.

I picked this book up after absolutely adoring the Netflix adaption of one of the author's other books, Anatomy of a Scandal.

I really enjoyed what this book brought to the table as what was an initially open and shut case of child abuse very quickly unravelled into something a whole lot more complex. I am not sure if this book is technically categorised as a domestic thriller but the label seems accurate as we are very closely following this group of friends as they navigate familial and interpersonal drama.

I definitely didn't slightly predict the resolution of the story, especially as there was a final devastating twist - which made me gasp out loud and filled me with anger - that came after it seemed that everything had been revealed and the book was just dealing with the fallout of the events.

This was such an enjoyable ride and I definitely want to read more of this author's work.

I found this both predictable AND outlandish.  I struggled through the middle/end of this one because it just felt so drawn out - each day was so full of character thoughts, and not in an engaging way. So many different threads woven throughout that weren’t necessary. 2.5 ⭐️
